It's like trying to fight voter apathy. :/

But what do you put in the box after your 140 characters?

Is Twitter really the reason people are leaving LJ?

Not Twitter specifically, but "microblogging" in general. Since I use the same service (http://ping.fm) to update my Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace statuses all at once, I keep those under 140.

I could actually have it also post to LJ as well, but there aren't too many people who are on LJ, but not Facebook.

I stopped using LJ because I hated hiding behind a locked blog and wanted a place where my non-LJ friends could comment. And now, maybe 1/4 of my f-list posts regularly.

I pretty much exclusively use LJ for posting things that I do want some security around. The other 95% of stuff goes out through public channels.

And after doing that for a while, I've found that I get one or two sentences into an LJ post and have lost interest in writing it. If I'm not interested enough to write about it, how could anyone else possibly want to read it?

My issue is I shouldn't be posting anything online that I want protected. I have seen too many TMI Live Journal entries - bitching out co-workers, friends and partners. I protect Twitter & FaceBook, but for different reasons - spies!

But if you have little time to blog, LJ is especially boring :-P I prefer the freedom and openness of blogger or wordpress.
